Wendy Fitch
Director, BCBA

Wendy L. Fitch has a passion for helping children with special learning needs. As a result, she founded Step By Step Consulting, Inc. which was incorporated in July 2005, and Rivers Bend Academy, a division of Step By Step Consulting, in August 2007. The highly specialized therapeutic consulting program and the alternative day school currently serve over 150 children with Autism Spectrum Disorders (ASD), including Pervasive Development Disorder (PDD), and Asperger’s Syndrome (AS) using the principles of Applied Behavior Analysis (ABA). As a Board Certified Behavior Analyst, Wendy has over twenty years of extensive experience working in special education. Wendy and her husband live in Windsor, Virginia with their two great kids.

Wendy’s experience and accreditations include:

B.S. in Psychology from University of Pittsburgh at Johnstown
M.Ed. in Special Education from Mansfield University
Postgraduate Professional license to teach in Virginia (endorsements in ED, MR and Psychology)
Board Certified Behavior Analyst since June of 2004 (Coursework completed at Penn State University)
Teacher -- elementary and secondary special education in Pennsylvania and Virginia beginning in April 1990 and has taught children with emotional disturbances, intellectual disabilities, autism and challenging behaviors
Administrator in the public sector for 7 years before entering private sector
Founder of Step By Step Consulting, Inc. -- incorporated in July 2005
Founder of Rivers Bend Academy (a division of Step By Step) in August 2007
